ETF Assets and Net Issuance
Washington, DC, April 29, 2026—The combined assets of the nation’s exchange-traded funds (ETFs) were $13.55 trillion in March, according to ICI. The Institute’s monthly statistical collection also includes the value of shares issued and redeemed by exchange-traded funds.
Statistics contained in the Institute’s monthly ETF report have been obtained from information provided to ICI by exchange-traded funds and commodity funds. Commodity funds are listed in the Domestic (Sector/Industry) category.

Highlights: Assets of all exchange-traded funds fell in March by $661.68 billion, or 4.7 percent, to $13.55 trillion. Over the past 12 months, ETF assets increased $3.18 trillion, or 30.7 percent. Assets in domestic equity ETFs increased $1.76 trillion since March 2025, and global equity ETF assets rose $749.03 billion during this period. At the end of March 2026, assets of bond funds were $2.40 trillion and hybrid funds were $49.16 billion and commodity funds were $366.24 billion.
During March, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $110.37 billion. In March 2025, the value of all ETF shares issued exceeded that of shares redeemed by $90.14 billion.
